The “Martha Bibescu 130” Cultural Year

The project the “Martha Bibescu 130 Cultural Year” project was inaugurated at the Filipescu-Cesianu House, on the occasion of the “National Day of Culture” on January 15th 2016.

The project was created by the Istoria Artei Association in collaboration with The Bucharest Municipality Museum, as well as other partners: the National Archives of Romania, the Mogoşoaia Brancovenian Palaces Cultural Centre, the National Library of Romania, the Carmen Sylva Cultural Centre of Sinaia, and was funded by the Ministry of Culture through the program dedicated to the National Day of Culture 2016.

The project involved a series of public events dedicated to Princess Martha Bibescu: conferences, presentations, projections, workshops for children and a catalogue launch.

The events organised on the occasion of Princess Martha Bibescu’s birth date (January 28th 1886, Bucharest) took place between the 15th and the 31st of January 2016 in Bucharest, Sinaia and Mogoşoaia.

On Tuesday, January 19th, Martha Bibescu was evoked in the ambiance of the Posada Castle during a conference at the Carmen Sylva Cultural Centre of Sinaia.

Sunday, January 31st the book “The Bibescu Family – Basarab Brâncoveanu: from Craiova to Paris” by Oana Marinache was launched in Mogoşoaia, along with the inauguration of the “Martha Bibescu 130” exhibition, the exhibition catalogue’s launch and the projection of the Princess’s photographs. Workshops for students in Bucharest were organised between January 15th and 31st. In November 2016 the project’s exhibition will be hosted by the Filipescu-Cesianu House, in the Lapidarium Hall.
