MONTHLY EXHIBITION
THE OBJECT OF THE MONTH AT THE DR. NICOLAE MINOVICI MUSEUM
Dr. Nicolae Minovici was a collector who loved folk art and was the first to open a folk art museum in Bucharest to showcase the countless objects in his collection. Along with the permanent exhibition of the museum as the forensic doctor envisioned it, you will be able to see, starting with February 2020, a space dedicated to understanding of the museum’s heritage in a different context from the one designed by the collector. Thus, by the monthly exposure of an object, we offer you the opportunity to approach artifacts from an ethnological perspective.
The aim of the project is to understand the function of objects starting from the material and technique in which they are worked. Next, we will discover together the peculiarities of wood, ceramics, textiles and painting. We will understand the context of their production, from the household industry to specialized workshops, but also as part of a cultural current from the beginning of the last century.
The novelty of this type of exhibition revolves around the visitor’s access to objects that are not part of the permanent exhibition, but are taken out of storage for these special monthly exhibitions. In this way, a small inaccessible part of the folk art collection will be visible to visitors.
