THE SECRETS OF PREHISTORIC POTTERY – CLAY MODELLING WORKSHOPS AT THE GEORGE SEVEREANU MUSEUM

This project was designed for children aged 6 to 15 years old. The attendees discovered “The Secrets of Prehistoric Pottery” together with Vasile Opriș and Marius Blasko, the project’s coordinators, on June 6th-9th 2017, at the George Severeanu Museum. The workshops offered insight into the life of prehistoric people through a direct experience with pottery – one of the basic crafts in the history of mankind.

After a short interactive introduction, the attendees created their own clay objects. Inspired by the objects displayed in Dr. George Severeanu collection, 7500 to 3500 years old clay vases and figurines, they experimented with modelling techniques of the past. They used tools made of bone, stone or wood in order to reproduce the prehistoric atmosphere.

Each person’s imagination played the most important part in the shape and design of the finished object.
