The Catalogue of Old Romanian Printed Works aims to create a database of information about all the bibliographic units that make up the Romanian typographic work, from its beginnings to 1830. This way we intend to contribute to reducing the dispersion of information, currently found in a multitude of publications.
For each printed work we plan on creating a presentation article based on a series of specific descriptors (year of printing, number of pages, name of typographer, name of engraver etc.) similar to on-line encyclopedias. The catalogue can be accessed according to these descriptors, thus allowing for an ordering and selection of unities relevant to the user. The site also integrates an instrument of data visualizing designed as a map with a timeline.
Throughout September-November 2018 we will organize a series of workshops, debates and exhibitions about the printing press and written patrimony. We invite you to follow the project’s website and Facebook page in order to stay up to date with the events’ program.
This project was initiated by MetruCub Association – resources for culture, in partnership with the Library of the Holy Synod, the National Museum of Old Maps and Books, the National Patrimony Institute, the Bucharest Municipality Museum Library, the Bucharest Metropolitan Library and “The Paper Mill” Association.
The project is co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration, but does not necessarily represent its point of view. NCFA is not responsible for the content of the project or the way in which its results may be used. These are entirely the responsibility of the grant beneficiary.
