The Bucharest Rescue Society – A Mission for Life. 120 Years Since Its Founding, temporary exhibition at Suțu Palace

From 26 June 2026

THEMATIC EXHIBITION AT SUȚU PALACE

The Bucharest Rescue Society – A Mission for Life
120 Years Since Its Founding

The exhibition aims to bring to the forefront the history and impact of the Bucharest Rescue Society, the first institution of its kind in Romania and one of the earliest in Eastern Europe, founded in 1906 by Dr. Nicolae Minovici (1868–1941).

From a historical perspective, the year 2026 holds a double significance: it marks 120 years since the founding of the Society and, at the same time, commemorates 85 years since the passing of its founder.

Through this exhibition, we seek to highlight the personality of Dr. Nicolae Minovici—the man behind the idea—and to explore his life and activity as a forensic physician, university professor, and philanthropist.

Through a thematic exhibition route, visitors will discover the social context, medical innovations, humanitarian efforts, and cultural legacy of this organization, which laid the foundations of modern emergency medical services in Romania.

The exhibition “The Bucharest Rescue Society – A Mission for Life: 120 Years Since Its Founding” is a tribute to the vision and humanism of the forensic physician Nicolae Minovici and to all those who laid the foundations of emergency medical services in Romania. It not only commemorates the past but also inspires the future—demonstrating how profoundly a project born of a sincere desire to save lives can influence society.
