Echoes in Heritage. BCR’s Donation to the Bucharest Pinacotheque
Thematic Exhibition at Suțu Palace

There are moments in the life of a museum that mark not merely an increase in the number of exhibits, but a genuine spiritual transformation of the institution. Such a moment is marked by the exhibition Echoes in the Heritage, which celebrates an act of rare generosity: the donation of a group of 70 works of art offered to the Bucharest Pinacotheque by the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR).

The story of this exhibition is, in essence, the story of a bridge cast across time. We like to believe that art never truly belongs to a single owner, but is a good of the spirit that constantly seeks its way toward the viewer’s eyes. Through this gesture of cultural responsibility, a valuable nucleus of painting, sculpture, and decorative art leaves the private sphere to enter the great family of public heritage, becoming accessible to all who cherish beauty.

Stepping into the exhibition halls, visitors will discover a fascinating dialogue between generations and styles. They will sense the strength and elegance of forms shaped by Milița Petrașcu or Gheorghe Anghel, the compositional rigor of Marius Bunescu, and the bold visions of contemporary artists such as Florin Ciubotaru or Petru Lucaci. It is a visual journey that begins in the heart of Romanian modernity and reaches the effervescence of contemporary creation.

Echoes in the Heritage is not merely a presentation of valuable objects; it is a meditation on how the community and the private sector can work together to preserve the cultural memory of the city. Each exhibited work carries with it the echo of a time and a talent that, from now on, will endure under the guardianship of the Pinacotheque.

We invite you to discover this collection not as a simple inventory of great names, but as a living gift. It is an invitation to be carried by the colors and forms that define our identity and to celebrate together the moment when art returns home, to the heart of the community.

We look forward to welcoming you to write together this page in the history of Bucharest’s artistic life in September and October 2026.
