The weapons collection is made up of 533 objects, weapons ranging from swords and knives to pistols and rifles. The items are from a very wide-spread geographic area, between the 14th and 20th centuries.
Aside from the local produced pieces, the collection also features many weapons of foreign origins, both Oriental and Occidental, from Germany, Russia, Austria, the Ottoman Empire, the U.S.A., Hungary, Belgium, France, England, Japan etc.
The pieces are categorized based on the purpose they were made for. There are offensive weapons as well as self-defense weapons.
The second category encompasses firearms and mainly features pieces destined for individual use, rarely for collective use.
The collection also aims to chronologically record the main types of weapons that could be found on Romanian soil from the early 14th century up to the 20th century.
Among the collection’s pièces de résistance we mention the sword of ruler Constantin Brâncoveanu, the sword of Gheorghe Bibescu and that of King Ferdinand; the hunting rifle, pistol and dueling kit of ruler Alexandru Ioan Cuza and the bandoleer of Bimbaşa Sava.
