The Bucharest Municipality Museum will organise the fourth edition of the Comic Strip Salon – Tales of Bucharest in Comic Strips, between June 7th and August 30th 2017 in the attic of the Filipescu-Cesianu House (No. 151 Calea Victoriei).
This year we invite you to discover the Bucharest of yesterday and today, seen through the eyes of students from the American International School of Bucharest. Guided by their art teachers as well as Mihai I. Grăjdeanu and Mădălina Corina Diaconu, the students will take part in the “Tales of Bucharest in Comic Strips” contest. The best works submitted will be selected for the exhibition, and will remain in the collection of the Bucharest Municipality Museum.
The Comic Strip Salon will also include works by established Romanian comic strip artists, who we invite to submit their works in accordance with the information found below. Furthermore, the exhibition will include comic strip and drawing workshops, as well as other activities such as presentations of recent Romanian comic books as well as animated film screenings.
We therefore invite comic strip artists to participate with their own creations, containing images, characters and stories from Bucharest. The comic strip panels/pages must be submitted in an A3 format, and can be sent in the following ways:
– As .tif or .jpg documents, resolution of 300 dpi, CMYK, via e-mail, at relatii.publice@muzeulbucurestiului.ro, addressed to Mădălina Diaconu
– As original works or physical copies of the work, which you can drop off at the Bucharest Municipality Museum headquarters – Sutu Palace, addressed to the Public Relations, Marketing and Cultural Projects Department – with the mention: Salon BD “Povești din București în Benzi Desenate” 2017.
The submission deadline is May 15th 2017.
Those who have their works exhibited will receive a certificate of participation from the Bucharest Municipality Museum.
During the Salon, the authors are invited to launch and present their comic strip publications, with or without stories related to Bucharest. We ask that you send us details on when you would like to organise eventual presentations and launches (important notice: the Museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays), via e-mail, at relatii.publice@muzeulbucurestiului.ro, addressed to Mădălina Diaconu.
The project is coordinated by Mădălina Corina Diaconu, journalist at Radio România Cultural, and Mihai I. Grăjdeanu, comic strip salon.
