THE “DECORATIVE ART – FURNITURE” COLLECTION

The Decorative art – furniture collection is not very expansive, featuring 227 pieces, mostly from the second half of the 19th century, when Western influence had a more significant hold on Bucharest’s wealthier citizens. Within this collection there are decorated wooden small tables, Napoleon the 3rd style salon trimmings, Biedermeier-style furniture, Boulle type decorated buffets, an armoire with the inscription “Ioannes Manucius Fecit”, chairs with the monogram of King Carol and Queen Elisabeth, chairs and a table attributed to C. A. Rosetti, a desk and chair attributed to M. Kogălniceanu, a clavichord that belonged to Eduard Wachmann, a chest of drawers which belonged to C. A. Rosetti and a desk attributed to lady Elena Cuza.
