THEMATIC EXHIBITION AT SUȚU PALACE
“The Bible in Cameos. Works Created by the German Artist Andreas Roth”

The Bucharest Municipality Museum, in partnership with the National Museum of Bucovina, invites you to visit the thematic exhibition “The Bible in Cameos. Works Created by the German Artist Andreas Roth” at Suțu Palace.
Visitors will be able to admire large-scale cameos with biblical themes, masterfully crafted by the German artist Andreas Roth.
Born in the city of Idar-Oberstein, known as the “city of gemstones,” Andreas Roth continues a long-standing family tradition, combining the refined technique of agate engraving with profound artistic sensitivity.
For the first time in Romania, the artist presents a collection of cameos dedicated to essential moments in the history of Christianity: the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Flight into Egypt, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, and the Ascension.
These scenes are inlaid into delicate layers of agate, offering a unique perspective on biblical symbolism that has endured across millennia. The remarkable works are displayed alongside frescoes salvaged from the Văcărești Monastery, which was demolished in the 1980s by the communist regime.
The exhibition can be visited until 1 February 2026.
Visiting hours: Wednesday–Sunday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (last ticket at 5:30 p.m.).
